Greenwood Legacy Corporation holds first Community Meeting, gives Updates on Redevelopment Efforts
TULSA, Okla. — On Wednesday, the Greenwood Legacy Corporation (GLC) held the first of two public meetings to discuss plans to revitalize the Greenwood neighborhood at the Greenwood Cultural Center.
The meeting featured remarks and comments from the GLC Board Chair, Dr. Lana Turner-Addison, members of the Community Governance Working Group, and Tulsa Mayor Monroe Nichols.
“This [meeting] is ensuring that we provide additional opportunities for the community to really understand the work that has taken place before now with the Kirkpatrick Heights/Greenwood Master Plan…,” said Turner-Addison. “Some questions have come to us around CDC, Community land Trust (CLT)…we’re here today because we made a commitment that we would have quarterly meetings.”
The main focus of the meeting was to inform the community on several plans to “prioritize Greenwood’s social fabric,” the role of a Community Development Corporation (CDC), and give insight into the impact residents have on decision-making.
Updates were also given regarding the Kirkpatrick Heights and Greenwood neighborhoods’ revitalization efforts outlined in the Kirkpatrick Heights/Greenwood Master Plan (KHGMP).
